Andrew & Co LLP ‘regenerates’ company commercial team with specialist appointment

Recognising the opportunities in the east Midlands region for renewable energy supplies, the firm has appointed prominent solicitor Helen Bell to its commercial team to provide specialist advice.

A former science graduate, Helen joined Andrew & Co on October 23. For the past eight years, she has advised on corporate and commercial transactions and in more recent times has focused on, and developed, an expertise in the renewable energy sector, negotiating for clients on wind turbine, biomass and solar projects.

Helen gained valuable knowledge of the rapidly expanding renewable energy market through her work as a consultant in environmental health where she investigated and advised on noise nuisances, emissions from industrial processes and analysis of water and air samples for pollutants.

“One of Helen’s strongest skills is translating technical issues into terms that all parties in a transaction can understand,” says Simon Smith, Andrew & Co’s Chief Executive. “She joins us at an exciting time in our strategic restructuring where her knowledge of corporate and commercial issues combined with her energy, health and safety, and food sector specialisms will be of real value to the firms’ diverse client base.

Helen is a highly respected authority in the area on renewables and has taken part at a number of prominent events on the topic including speaking alongside the Energy Minister John Hayes at the Green Energy Conference held at the Epic Centre, Lincolnshire Showground December 2012, as well as acting as one of the judges at the Humber Renewables Awards 2013. She is also a consummate marketer and spent twelve years in the early part of her career in marketing and promoting events.

Outside of work, Helen leads an equally energetic life and is passionate about flying, motorcycling, scuba diving and skiing.
