Worryingly, thousands of people in the East Midlands who live with their partner but are not...
I studied at Birmingham University and Nottingham Law School, and obtained a training contract at Andrew & Co in the mid 1990s. I qualified with the firm, decided to specialise in this field and now head up the Private Client Team. Our work covers the traditional areas of will writing and estate administration, and being a long established firm we regularly advise on trusts, which is a particular interest of mine. We also have a strong background in advising older clients and their families as to the particular legal aspects that may impact later in life.
I maintain a strong commitment to old fashioned professionalism, high standards of technical competence, and ensuring all clients are valued no matter whether they leave £5000 to the dog's home, or a complex estate worth millions. In the last few years we have refocussed the team to ensure we have a range of staff on board to cater for work at different levels of complexity and that we have a range of approaches to charging, tailored to the work we are carrying out for the client.
I have always specialised in this kind of work, and have been a full member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners for a good number of years. I latterly became a full member of Solicitors for the Elderly, a national association of lawyers who specialise in older client law.
Outside the office I enjoy nothing better than a day in the vegetable plot, a walk with my better half and our rescue dog, and am partial to a spot of Test cricket every Summer.
